" Well I continue to work with the power of text and graphic imagery I have ventured into a couple of what I call the 3 Cs, Las Castas (which has travelled around a bit from the 555 Gallery in Detroit, to the Narciso Martinez Cultural Center in San Benito to 409 Gallery in Brownsville), three of my Las Castas pieces were just chosen for the Chicano/a Biennial at the MACLA in San Jose, CA that opened in August 2007."

These pieces will also be shown next fall at my Alma Mater at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  All of the 50+ pieces from the series were selected for a special show.  More details for the Fall 2008 exhibit will be coming in the near future.

Puchela de negro, just one of over 50 paintings included in the Valadez Las Castas series.    

There are over 50 paintings included in the Las Castas series.  The series is a contemporary interpretation of the Spanish Colonial "ethnic identity labels" used to identify people of mixed ethnicities in the New World.
